  Surprisingly almost all reviews I've read keep referring to Davey Macs as the best "Ice-cream" they've had. Now I'm sure Davey Mac himself is pleased with the good wrap - but when the name of the company is Davey Mac Gelato - one would think those consuming it would know it's Gelato and not ice-cream. I'll leave the nuisances between Gelato and ice-cream to Davey himself to explain, suffice to say it's significantly different. Perhaps it's the smoothness of the hand made on the premises Gelato that has folks baffled? Because it's simply INCREDIBLE. And I've tasted the best of Melbourne's and enjoyed some of Italy's lovelies as well - and Davey Macs is absolutely right up there with them all - wait for it - a nose in front in my humble opinion. You may not find the 'nightclub' disco atmosphere with the social set eating up st 11.00pm to thud thud of a sub woofer, or the elaborate 'dressings' that sit adorning the liquid churned gold itself behind glass - but wrap your mouth around the Ferrero Rocher, peanut butter, milo or nougat or whatever - and you will struggle to say you have ever ever ever had better. Bring on Lygon st, Messinas, Pidapipo, Gradi or anyone. The servings are certainly anything but generous - too small to be frank - if you want to see generous go to Casa Del Gelato as old as Melbourne itself - no, Davey's servings are not even close to others, but if it's the best you want - come and find it where you might just not have ever expected it!! D Mac - Wow.
